Elizabeth’s Artist Statement

I am Elizabeth Marie and I am an artist

Creativity that moves the soul to see the colors, taste the nectar, smell the fragrance, touch the texture, and hear the music is what I came here to share. I am Elizabeth Marie and I am an artist. I believe that art is an expression of life on canvas. I believe art has the power of transformational healing. I also believe that every person has their own journey of going through a broken heart, a dismantled friendship, a bad business break-up, and each experience is complicated and creates vulnerability yet expounds on their strength and wisdom. I also believe that every joyful moment brings enlightenment. And with enlightenment comes the strength to continue the journey. That is my subject matter – that is art.

Renowned Multi-Medium Artist

My friend picks up her cell phone and says. “Glamor shot”.

I am an artist who has taken my own joyful technique to radiate healing and inner security, yet am enchanted and piercing to the soul. My recent original work reflects a journey of Angels who serve. Inspiration to create tends to strike at any moment. I began painting at the innocent age eight and continued to meticulously evolve as an artist not giving in to the traditional artists’ stereotype. My art is a connection of my abilities in a given medium and visually brought to life.

I enjoy working with paint, wood, fabric, glass, metal, clay and word. I see forms in objects that are their life. I work with the given messages and spirit of the piece I’m working with. I have an uncanny way of making something out of nothing. I enjoy the mechanics of an object. I want to know everything about it and that drives me to dig deep into its being. Meaning I respect the design and discover the power behind the design. I am an inventor; I see people’s needs and create a space for it to exist in their world. My art and creativity is healing. I recognize and feel a change in people when they receive a work of my art, whether as a painting, a bookmark, a mural, a poem, a picture, a solution to a problem.

The Self-Taught Artist

As a child, Elizabeth Marie doodled quite a bit. Yet her creative drive took her through various form of artistic expression; painting, dance, music including the organ and flute. None seemed to last long on the list as a young girl exploring the world and the oil painting classes were hated every moment. With that, she declared she wanted to be anything but an artist.

The brushes eventually were put away, and Elizabeth pursued an eclectic career in corporate America. In 2003 after her divorce, art became personal and was reintroduced into her world; a way to express the emotions that tangled every breath and tear. The bright colors were the first time her soul was permitted to be seen. And certainly was more a way to hide the hurt, than an unperceptive eye could see. The fragile state of rebirth brought to life in the patterns and expressions of a certain unknown seen through an adult woman’s heart. She became the brush pushing thought into form, listening for the colors, wetting the paints with her tears. Moments pass and the white canvas transforms into depths of symbols and structure that change as the viewer’s perspective is drawn closer.

As a self-taught artist, Elizabeth prefers to paint without pre-drawing the subject. This allows her to move with the feeling that is flowing through to her brush. She enjoys the challenge of going against the grain of color theory to allow the vibrancy of painting and form to seduce the eye. Her work has a graphic textile feel with the luminosity of stain glassed. Structured and abstract blended into the song of the painting.

Ms. Marie’s intense and fiery spiritual connection has driven her to create pieces of art that tantalize the soul. As a person is viewing her work, a range of mixed eclectic emotions and high powered healing sensations are brought to the surface through the story with the viewer. It is with this connection she tells the story of life from her perspective and shares with those who surround her. A righteously rich history of community involvement, public speaking, philanthropy, and business management enriches each piece of art she creates with each stroke of a brush.

Elizabeth Marie never knew what it was to live solely with her divine choices. In 2014 after 21 years in Dallas Texas searching for passion and purpose, her soul pulled her to move to the Lower Hudson Valley of New York. For the first time in her life, she moved to a place where she knew no one, had no job waiting, no home, no reason to be there. A refreshing world that allows her expression of being an artist is finally wildly painted.

The mysteries of being an artist unfold for Elizabeth just as the flowers of her paintings. Each painting mimics a moment in life. Whether it was the death or the coming out of a friend, to the refreshing vapors of the garden fragrance, her paintings include words, Morse code and subliminal messages.

Path to the Inner Artist Soul

Everything shifted and the sky to my soul opened before me when I became a single woman again. A new way of sharing experiences, understanding, translating, revealing and an artist was re-born. It was through my painting, my spirit began to relish the path to the inner artist awakened in my soul. I remembered my talents and divine purpose. I am an artist. I paint and paint and paint and every piece created is intended for a specific person. Every piece is an expression of a moment in your life, a memory in your past, or even a healing within you.

A Few Quirky Things About Me, I Bet You Did Not Know

  • I remodeled my 1885 home from a dilapidated rat filled structure, to its former Modified Queen Anne glory. When I say remodeled, I did gutting, the dry wall, carpentry and most everything except the plumbing and electrical. I have scars to prove it.
  • When I was married, my husband would want to give me diamond jewelry and I would say no, I want tools! Big bad power tools like a compound miter saw, router, or power saws.
  • My father’s ancestry from England includes kings, royalty and a Saint.
  • My mother is a first Generation American.
  • I prefer to read upside down.
  • When my hair was a rich red color, I was a Stand-In for the character of Dr. Beverly Crusher on the TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation.
